White onions are more prone to molding than yellow onions because of their higher water content.

They must be stored in a well ventilated place.
Even though white onions have a milder flavor than yellow storage onions, the sulfer content is still high. So expect to tear up just as much when you start chopping them.

The white onion is a popular cooking onion. It is often used in herbed, spicy dishes because of it clean, tangy flavor. Because white onions have a slightly higher water content, they are somewhat sweeter then yellow onions.
