Watercress
has small, crisp, dark green leaves. Its flavor
is slightly bitter and has a hint of a peppery
taste.
Watercress is usually available year-round,
but choose crisp leaves with deep, bright
color. There should be no sign of yellowing
or wilting. |

After
cutting a fresh watermelon, it should always
be tightly wrapped, refrigerated and used
within a day or so. It should be served cold,
either in wedges or made into balls and served
as part of a fruit cup or salad. Watermelon
contains good amounts of vitamins A and C.
