Popsicles
were acci-dentally discovered in 1905 by an
11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson. According
to legend, Epperson mixed up a batch of soda
water powder and water (a popular drink of
the day) and left the mixture on his porch
with the stirring stick still in it. |

|
That night, the tem-perature froze and Epperson
found that he had invented the quiescently
frozen confection. Epperson kept his discovery
to himself for 18 years before launching a
line of seven fruit-flavored Eppsicles
and the name was eventually changed to Popsicles.
