Popsicles were acci-dentally discovered in 1905 by an 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson. According to legend, Epperson mixed up a batch of soda water powder and water (a popular drink of the day) and left the mixture on his porch with the stirring stick still in it.
That night, the tem-perature froze and Epperson found that he had invented the quiescently frozen confection. Epperson kept his discovery to himself for 18 years before launching a line of seven fruit-flavored “Eppsicles” and the name was eventually changed to Popsicles.
